Martin is living a good life now because his wife inherited money. Martin himself has failed at everything he has ever done.
Martin moved to South Africa in 1981 on a contract as a draftsman. He couldn’t cut it and decided to sell life assurance instead. Couldn’t cut that either.
To my knowledge, Martin is the only person in our family who is responsible for someone else’s death. While in South Africa, he was towing a sail boat and didn’t fasten the mast correctly. It came adrift, went through the wind screen of the car behind killing the woman driver.
Martin met his wife Anne in South Africa. Barry told me that Martin wanted to end his relationship with Anne after a couple of years but she got pregnant and so Martin married her. Anne has had control of Martin’s life ever since.
I visited Martin, and then Martin and Anne, in South Africa on several occasions. I was the only member or the family ever to visit Martin in South Africa.
Martin and Anne returned to England as Johannesburg was getting to be a dangerous place and they had to young children.
Martin decided to be an Independent Financial Advisor but after a few years of making no money he gave that up. He then decided to become a teacher. He couldn’t get a permanent job but was hired as a supply teacher for a period of time. Martin admitted he could never control a class and that the pupils intentionally goaded him into losing his temper. Martin hated teaching and before too long, gave that up too.
Martin then tried his hand at used car sales. I created a website for him free of charge but he wasn’t prepared to maintain it himself so I didn’t renew it. I paid for it and hosted it for free.
Barry told me that Martin always bought cheap cars with issues and tried to repair and make money on them. He sold some cars but the business was not a success. Last time I heard, Martin was giving private lessons Mathematics to young teens to earn some money for himself.

Anne was always the breadwinner and Martin never made any real money throughout his whole working life.
Martin and Anne live in a house inherited from Anne’s parents. 
According to Barry, Anne is not leaving the house to Martin should she die first. The house will go to theirs 2 boys.
Martin positioned himself as my father’s advisor and now executor when my father was cognitively impaired. He advised me that he has to come after me as he is acting on behalf of the estate. The only beneficiaries to the estate or him, my brother Barry and my half sister, Christine. In response, I sent him the following email:
‘You mean to get as much money as possible for you, Christine and Barry. That’s the estate. You are acting out of greed for you, Christine and Barry. No-one else cares and there is no legal requirement. You three can decide whatever you want.
Your incompetence in handling dad’s affairs; especially with regard to Fort Smith has been staggering. You were a ‘son for hire’ in his last year of life having been contemptuous of him for much of your adult life. You have without doubt squandered tens of thousands of dollars by your inaction and incompetence over Fort Smith properties; for which I hold you entirely responsible. You are an embarrassment.
I am be seeking an injunction to prevent you from any further activity in the United States. Please provide the contacts details of your attorneys as previously requested. For you to have any authority or take action in the United States, dad’s will has to have been accepted and gone through probate in the United States. Please provide details of the attorney that has handled this.
Barry, please confirm in writing that you oppose this action and are no part of it. If you are part of this, then I will be suspending your website on receipt of any legal action against me where you are a beneficiary. Martin calls it ‘the estate’ but in reality, it is you three. I made a huge gesture last December to not contest the UK will so that you could all get your money. I now regret that decision and will not repeat it.’
Barry had told me repeatedly that he had no power over what Martin decides which is why I included the last offer to him. He told me that he is not interested in the money. I never heard back from him which was expected. Barry pretends loyalty, but his greed always wins through.
Note: Martin had advised me that the whole estate was worth a lot less than £100,000. That was always a lie and Martin knew it because he had power of attorney over all of the father’s finances for the last 2 years of his life. I had to purchase online the UK probate document that revealed that there were liquids assets in excess of £180,000 in the UK alone.
